Drag is het, vaak uitvergroot, presenteren van vrouwelijkheid of mannelijkheid in verschillende vormen van optredens. Tijdens deze driedaagse workshop ga je op zoek naar jouw drag alterego. We richten ons specifiek op drag kings en verschillende uitingen van mannelijkheid.
Programma
Wat is ‘mannelijkheid’ eigenlijk? Hoe wordt dit bepaald door de plek waar je je bevindt en de tijd waarin je leeft? Samen duiken we in de geschiedenis van drag en onderzoeken we hoe het beeld van ‘mannelijkheid’ en ‘vrouwelijkheid’ verandert. We doen dit aan de hand van een aantal collectiestukken, o.a. in de huidige modetentoonstelling DARN. Tijdens de eerste twee dagen gaan we op zoek naar jouw drag alterego: hoe gebruik je kleding, make-up en houding in het vormen daarvan? De laatste dag presenteer jij je drag alterego aan je medecursisten. Ook is het mogelijk om je in drag te laten fotograferen. Dit alles vindt plaats in een veilige omgeving binnen het Zeeuws Museum.
Over Antoine Panaché
Antoine Panaché is een van de langst actieve drag kings van Nederland, ‘geboren’ in 2013, toen er nog weinig drag kings actief waren in Nederland. Hij weet als geen ander hoe het is om te beginnen zonder handvatten en zet zich daarom in om een nieuwe generatie op te leiden en te inspireren. Antoine Panaché is het alterego van kunstenaar Lilia Scheerder. Als graficus, performance- en geluidkunstenaar en beeldmaker haalt zij inspiratie uit analoge media, stille film, het occulte en cinematografie.

Is het iets voor jou? Voel je welkom, deelname is gratis! Inschrijven kan tot 4 april via rondleidingen@zeeuwsmuseum.nl. Er is plek voor acht personen en plaatsing gebeurt op volgorde van aanmelding.

Alter ego, performance, and history
Drag is an often exaggerated performance of femininity or masculinity in various forms. In this three-day workshop, you will go on a search for your drag alter ego. This workshop focuses on drag kings and different expressions of masculinity.

What is ‘masculinity’? How is it determined by the time and place you live in? Together, we dive into the history of drag and examine how the image of ‘masculinity’ and ‘femininity’ changes over time. We do this by using several collection pieces, including some from the current fashion exhibition, DARN. During the first two days, we search for your drag alter ego: How can you use clothing, makeup, and posture to shape it? On the final day, you present your drag alter ego to your fellow participants, and there will be an opportunity to be photographed in drag. All of this takes place in a safe environment within Zeeuws Museum.
About Antoine Panaché
Antoine Panaché is one of the longest-active drag kings in the Netherlands. He was ‘born’ in 2013, at a time when there were only a few active drag kings in the Netherlands. He knows better than anyone what it is like to start without any local support or reference. He is now committed to training and inspiring a new generation. Antoine Panaché is the alter ego of artist Lilia Scheerder. As a graphic, performance- and sound artist, filmmaker and photographer, she draws inspiration from analog media, silent film, the occult, and cinematography.

Feeling the appeal? Everyone is welcome, participation is free! You can register until April 4th by sending an e-mail to rondleidingen@zeeuwsmuseum.nl. There are eight spots available, and placement is first come, first served.
